Thenault and Roth shine at the Freestyle Masters in Mettmenstetten

This past Sunday, the 27th edition of the Freestyle Masters in Mettmenstetten brought together the world’s top aerials athletes for a highly anticipated showdown. With the World Championships looming on the horizon, this event was a crucial opportunity for athletes to assess their form early in the season. The competition field was exceptionally stacked, featuring a robust lineup of World Cup athletes from powerhouse nations including Switzerland, China, Canada, Australia, the USA, Ukraine, the Czech Republic, Germany, and Austria.

Amidst this fierce international competition, the Swiss team made an impressive mark on home soil, delivering standout performances that not only thrilled the local crowd but also set a strong tone for the season ahead. With athletes performing at their peak, every run was a masterclass in precision, power, and artistry, making this year’s Freestyle Masters one of the most exhilarating to date.

In the women’s event, Marion Thenault (CAN) claimed the top spot with a score of 121.92 points for her flawless Full-Full-Full, showcasing her exceptional precision and skill. Chen Meiting (CHN) was close behind, securing second place with 121.06 points, also for a Full-Full-Full in the big final. Laura Peel (AUS) rounded out the podium in third place, scoring 115.05 points for her Lay double Full-Full, further solidifying her status among the top competitors.

The men’s event was equally thrilling, with a closely contested battle for the podium. All three top athletes pushed the limits in the super final, opting for the challenging Full triple Full-Full. Noe Roth (SUI) successfully defended his title, taking the victory with an impressive 145.08 points, mirroring his success from last year. Wang Guochen (CHN) delivered a strong performance to secure second place with 140.92 points. Pirmin Werner (SUI) completed the podium in third place with 131.04 points, earning a solid result for the Swiss team.
