Aerials water ramp season concludes with thrilling double event in Qinhuangdao

The aerials summer water ramp season wrapped up in spectacular fashion this past weekend in Qinhuangdao, China. The event, held from September 21-22, marked the final stop of a six-part international series that included competitions in Austria, Switzerland, the United States, the Czech Republic, and Australia.

Hosted by the Winter Sports Management Center of the General Administration of Sport of China, the Chinese Ski Association, and the Qinhuangdao Training Base, the event saw nearly 50 athletes from China and Kazakhstan competing in two days of intense aerial action.

Women's Competition Highlights

In the first day of competition, Chen Meiting led the women's field with an impressive Full-Full-Full, scoring 119.35 points to take the victory. Liu Xinyi followed closely in second with 115.91 points, while Shao Qi secured third place with 115.05 points, both also performing Full-Full-Full jumps.

Day two saw 2022 Olympic champion Xu Mengtao bounce back from her fourth-place finish on Saturday to claim victory with 121.06 points for her Full-Full-Full. Shao Qi improved her performance to finish second with 115.48 points, and Liu Xinyi rounded out the podium in third with 110.76 points.

Men's Competition Highlights

In the men's competition, Tang Xing emerged victorious on day one, executing a flawless Full triple Full-Full and scoring 129.48 points. Qi Guangpu, last year’s World Cup champion, took second place with 128.06 points, while Li Tianma claimed third with 122.50 points.

The second day saw Sun Jiaxu deliver the standout performance of the weekend, scoring a massive 150.28 points for his perfectly executed Full Triple Full-Full. Chen Shuo, with his rendition of “the Hurricane,” earned 139.88 points to finish second, and Wang Xindi completed the podium in third with 138.50 points.

FULL RESULTS

The competition in Qinhuangdao showcased the depth and strength of the Chinese team, with athletes demonstrating world-class skills and precision on their home ramp. As the team heads into the new World Cup season and prepares for the 2024/25 World Championships in Switzerland, these performances provide great optimism for their prospects.

The final results from Qinhuangdao not only highlight the competitiveness of the event but also set the stage for what promises to be an exciting winter season for aerial skiing.
