Jaelin Kauf (USA) certainly made up for her Single Moguls disappointment as she claimed gold in the Dual Moguls event at the 2025 FIS Snowboard, Freestyle, and Freeski World Championships in St. Moritz, Switzerland, on Friday. Mikael Kingsbury (CAN) claimed his career-ninth World Championships gold as he topped the men's podium after a dramatic competition.

Kauf, who crashed and finished last in the Single Moguls super final on Wednesday, never looked in doubt in the Dual Moguls event. The three-time World Cup winner beat teammate Tess Johnson (USA) 21-14 in the big final to make it to the top of the World Championships table for the first time in her career.

After claiming World Championships bronze (2017) and two silvers (2019, 2023) in the Dual Moguls event, Kauf led the United States’ first one-two in World Championships Dual Moguls history.

“It feels amazing”, Kauf said afterward. “Especially after singles, it’s a bit of redemption here. It’s been an awesome day.”

“I was hoping for a (US) sweep there with Kylie (Kariotis, USA)”, she added. “But our whole team has been crushing it. It’s been awesome to get two of us on the podium today.”

In the small final, Anastassiya Gorodko (KAZ) defeated Kylie Kariotis (USA) 22-13 to take bronze. It’s her second World bronze in the dual moguls after landing in third place in 2021.

2025 World single moguls champion Perrine Laffont (FRA) saw her hopes of retaining her 2023 World title vanish when Tess Johnson (USA) beat her in the quarterfinal (18-17). Johnson eventually landed a silver, winning her second World Championships medal after a bronze in 2019.

Kingsbury claims ninth World gold in dramatic men’s event

Mikael Kingsbury (CAN) successfully defended his Dual Moguls world title. The Canadian claimed his career-ninth World Championships gold when he landed on top of the men’s podium. It’s Kingsbury’s fourth straight Dual Moguls title and his fifth Dual gold in total.

Kingsbury defeated 2025 World Single Moguls champion Ikuma Horishima (JPN) in the big final. In fact, the Canadian had an easy route to victory after Horishima injured himself in the semifinals. The Japanese athlete was unable to race in the final, while Kingsbury put up an easy run to take gold.

For Kingsbury it’s his second medal of the week after landing a silver in the Single Moguls event on Wednesday, behind Horishima.

“It’s a great way to finish the week: with gold”, Kingsbury said afterward. “Obviously, I’m thinking about Ikuma. It’s not the way I wanted to win the final. But I felt good on my skis today. I was able to build up and get better round by round. I’m happy to win my ninth gold medal at the World Championships.”

Matt Graham (AUS) took bronze in the small final, defeating Filip Gravenfors (SWE). Gravenfors was unable to compete in the small final after having injured himself in his semi-final against Horishima.
