COC: Johann Andre Forfang outstanding

The short break around New Year's is now over for the ski jumpers in the Continental Cup. The first competitions in 2017 are held on the Hochfirst-hill in Titisee-Neustadt (GER).

The outstanding athlete in the Black Forest on Saturday afternoon was Johann Andre Forfang of Norway. The 21-year-old, who celebrated his for far only win in the World Cup on this hill last March, was already the best in the first round with 138.5 m. In the final he did even better and posted an amazing jump on 147 m. With 283.9 points Johann Andre Forfang took a clear win, his third in the COC.

"I didn't expect to finish first here. With the conditions in the final round I knew that I could jump far. I'm really happy that I could be on top of the podium for the second time here", said the Norwegian.

Daniel Huber of Austria, with 132.5 m fourth after the first round, jumped on 136 m in the final and finished second with his total of 264.8 points. "I'm very happy about this second place, although there's still a lot of room for improvement. I don't mind the cold temperatures", said Daniel Huber.

His brother Stefan didn't come in among the best, but still provided a highlight. With a great second jump on 139.5 m he could move up from 30th to 12th overall.

The third place went to Poland's Klemens Muranka, who had a jump of 133 m in the first round and moved up from sixth to the podium with his 137 m in the second round.

Local hero Andreas Wank, who is living in this region for a couple of years now, was second after the first half of the competition and missed the podium by the tiny margin of only 0.5 points in fourth.

Young Slovene Bor Pavlovcic from the Ski Flying mecca of Planica was fifth and the best of his team, that had two other jumpers in today's Top 10 with Tilen Bartol in seventh and Nejc Dezman in ninth.

Ville Larinto of Finland showed a good performacne and came in sixth, Italy's Davide Bresadola (8th) and Viktor Polasek of the Czech Republic (10th) also finished in the Top 10.

With his second place, Daniel Huber took the lead in the overall ranking of the COC with now 345 points. Cene Prevc of Slovenia is now second (280 points), Halvor Egner Granerud is third with 248 points).
