Ronan Lamy Chappuis, who was sidelined for the most part of the last winter season due to back problems, will now have to undergo surgery.

Early April the Frenchman was diagnosed with a benign tumor in the back, which now has to be removed.

"Since late December I felt stronger pain in the back and decided to consult a doctor. Medical examinations followed in Grenoble and Lyon. in March a cyst was diagnosed and a biopsy was conducted. On April 7th I got the definitive result that it was a benign bone tumor that requires immediate surgery to remove it", the 23-year-old wrote on his facebook page.

Ronan Lamy Chappuis, who shall be operated early May, had his last competitions this past season already mid January at the Continental Cup in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. His best results 2016/17 were two 40th places in Lillehammer (NOR) in December.
