Second victory at home for Maren Lundby
Dec 08, 2019·Ski JumpingWhile the snow fall was stopping in the afternoon, Maren Lundby claimed a second victory and maintained her first position in the World Cup with jumps of 138.5 m and 121 m totalizing 267.1 points. She was already performing well in this weekend's first event and was in a great shape again on Sunday on her home hill. “I was looking forward to the competition again, it’s really good to be here and to compete again, it has been a long summer. “
The second place went to Austria Chiara Hoelzl. Whereas she was third yesterday, she felt good in the morning and did a great job posting jumps of 131 m and 119 m, scoring a total of 251.8 points. She commented, “It was just amazing, Lillehammer is always a nice season’s start and I really enjoyed to be here.”
Japanese Sara Takanashi, last summer Grand Prix winner, took the third place. After the first competition of yesterday (ninth) she was a bit surprised by the result with jumps of 133.5 m and 126.5 m (251.5 points). “I am really satisfied about this result and I hope the next competitions will also be also better” said Takanashi, who has ten WC podiums on her record last season.
Austria completed a strong result with Eva Pinkelnig second yesterday and fourth today. Marita Kramer finished ninth and Jacqueline Seifriedsberger 11th.
Slovenian team had another great result with Ema Klinec in fourth, Nika Kriznar who moved up from 12th to seventh in the final and finally Ursa Bogataj in eighth.
The best German was Katharina Althaus similarly like yesterday in sixth.
Another Japanese in top 10 was Yuka Seto, who definitely improved her position of yesterday (18th)
After the first two competitions of the season, Maren Lundby leads the overall World Cup ranking with 200 points. Chiara Hoelzl (140 points) and Eva Pinkelnig (125 points) follow in second and third.
The WC continues next Saturday with competition in Klingenthal (GER).
