The Austrian Eva Pinkelnig won the second competition Women's Ski Jumping World Cup of the winter in Wisla (POL) on Sunday. Second place went to Katharina Althaus (GER) and the Swede Frida Westman was third.

Pinkelnig won on Sunday by a clear margin and with her victory also took over the yellow bib of the overall leaders in the women's ski jumping world cup.

For Pinkelnig it is the fourth World Cup victory, the first in Europe after the 34-year-old had three victories in Japan in 2020.

"The hill was prepared perfectly, so I would like to thank the organizers. I'm super happy, I never expected to be able to perform like that," said the completely overwhelmed winner of the day.

For Pinkelnig it is the fourth World Cup victory, the first in Europe after the 34-year-old had three victories in Japan in 2020.

"The hill was perfectly groomed, so I would like to thank the organizers. I'm super happy, I never expected to be able to perform like that," said the completely overwhelmed winner of the day.

After the unsuccessful start of the season the day before, Katharina Althaus was also able to secure a podium place and important points for the German team on Sunday. Now I'm super happy that I made it onto the podium today. It can go on like this," explained Althaus.

The first podium of her career was achieved by Swede Frida Westmann, for whom moving to Norway and training with ex-ski flying world record holder Roar Lyoekelsoey in Trondheim is increasingly paying off. "I haven't changed much since yesterday. I was just concentrating on my jumps and will continue to work on my jumps and technique. I also still need to work on my landing and the last part of my flight but I'm really happy with mine jumps, my goal is to get back on the podium and win a medal at the World Championships," Westmann explained.

Nika Kriznar took fourth place, right in front of Sara Takanashi and Marita Kramer from Austria.

Silje Opseth messed up her first jump and had to be satisfied with 7th place today after her win yesterday.

Eva Pinkelnig takes the yellow bib as the World Cup Leader (160 points), Silje Opseth from Norway is second (136 points) and Marita Kramer from Austria third (120 points).

The women's World Cup continues in Lillehammer (NOR) in 4 weeks.
