Aaron March lays foundation for Olympic season

While the Alpine Snowboard World Cup tour will kick off with a parallel giant slalom in Carezza, Italy in 112 days, racers are entering the home stretch of their season preps just like Aaron March.

Following a three-week camping trip with his young family to recover from an exhausting last season, the 31-year-old underwent an intense training programme in which he was mainly focusing on stamina, strength and speed.

Longer trips with the road bike or tennis matches with his friends rounded out the exercise weeks in July and August.

The fourth ranked of the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi also complete one stage of this year's 41st edition of the Giro delle Dolomiti, a six-stop road bike race in the North of Italy.

“The summer was good. I was spared from injuries, and I was able to train as I planned to do. It was my goal to combine some good and goal-driven training with a relaxing summer in order to be highly motivated and fit for the up-coming on-snow training,” said March, who looks back on a great season in which he was able to secure his career's first Crystal Globe for winning the Parallel Slalom World Cup title.

However, before it's time to hit the slopes in Cervinia again, March and his fellow Italian national team members will come together in Bruneck for a stamina course.

“From there on, we will be on snow three to four days a week in Cervinia, Passo Stelvio or the Schnals Valley,” said March who is pumped to strap in again soon.
