Penultimate race for former world champion

Rok Flander (SLO), the 2007 parallel giant slalom world champion who was part of the first ever snowboard World Cup event in Bad Gastein back in 2001 (9th rank finish) will compete in his last race on Austrian soil tomorrow.

In addition, the Bad Gastein World Cup will be his penultimate as the three-time Olympian with so far 141 World Cup starts under his belt will finally say good-bye at his home soil event in Rogla (SLO) where the alpine snowboard pros will head next for a pgs event on January 28.

The 37-year-old has been missing out the whole last season due to back problems but decided to give it a go for a last psl appearance in Bad Gastein where he placed third back in 2012 – his last podium in a parallel slalom competition.

“It's nice to come back to a place which I like although I didn't really get the results I was aiming for,” said Flander prior to his 17th start in Bad Gastein.
