Some positive news came on Tuesday from the Austrian Ski Federation, as the double World Cup event at the iconic venue in Bad Gastein, initially cancelled at the end of November due to the regional COVID-19 situation, will be brought back into 2020/21 World Cup calendar.

Satisfied with what has been seen and experienced after the first World Cup events of the season thus far, and after a re-evaluation of the local situation at the resort, the Local Organising Committee along with the Austrian Ski Federation have decided that conditions are favourable to host the parallel slalom and parallel slalom team events in Bad Gastein on the original dates, January 12-13, 2021.

This year Bad Gastein will be hosting the 21st edition of its snowboard alpine World Cup event, with the first competition in the high valley of the Hohe Tauern mountain range dating back to 2000/2001. It’s the longest-running competition of any of the entire FIS Snowboard World Cup and once again this year we can expect that the Austrian stop on tour will be one of the highlights events of the 2020/21 season.

Traditionally the individual parallel slalom event will take place first on Tuesday with finals scheduled to go down under the lights at 18:40 CET. The parallel slalom mixed team event will follow up on Wednesday at 13:00.
