FIS Snowboard Alpine World Championships moved to Rogla (SLO)

Exciting news came this past weekend from Slovenia, where the Ski Association of Slovenia, along with the local organising committee, FIS, Infront and other stakeholders involved came to an agreement to host the 2021 FIS Snowboard Alpine World Championships on March 1-2.

Due to the development of the pandemic and the implemented measures by the Chinese health authorities and government, the originally scheduled FIS Freestyle, Freeski and Snowboard World Championships in Zhangjiakou had to be cancelled earlier this season.

The organising committee in Rogla as well as the Ski Association of Slovenia are putting in an enormous amount of effort to host this major event on this short notice, however all parties involved feel supremely confident that this experienced World Cup organiser will be able to step up to hold a successful World Championships.

The Slovenian resort has a long history of hosting FIS Snowboard events, as Rogla has been a regular stop on the FIS Snowboard Alpine World Cup tour since 2013. Furthermore Rogla hosted two FIS Snowboard Alpine Junior World Championships in 2016 and 2019.

Additionally the Parallel Giant Slalom World Cup in Rogla will be held as initially planned on 6th March, 2021.
