This past weekend marked the successful conclusion of the FIS Snowboard World Cup, featuring exhilarating snowboardcross and slopestyle final events in Mt. St. Anne (CAN) and Silvaplana (SUI). Meanwhile, the future stars of snowboard racing were making their mark at the FIS Snowboard Alpine Junior World Championships 2024 in Lachtal (AUT). This prestigious event is a cornerstone competition for the upcoming generation of athletes and represents the inaugural event of the Junior World Championships in the freestyle and snowboard disciplines.

The event, which ran from Friday to Sunday, March 22-24, showcased athletes competing in parallel giant slalom, parallel slalom, and the parallel mixed team event, highlighting the depth of talent in the junior ranks.

The competition kicked off on Friday with the parallel giant slalom. In the women's event, Aurelia Moisan (CAN) clinched gold by narrowly defeating Weronika Dawidek (POL) in a thrilling big final matchup. The bronze medal was secured by Xenia von Sibenthal (SUI), who triumphed over Marie Gams (AUT) in the small final.

On the men's side, Samuel Vojtasek (GER) disrupted the Bulgarian dominance to claim gold, leaving last year's champion, Tervel Zamfirov (BUL), with the silver medal. The battle for bronze saw Petar Gergyovski (BUL) edging out his compatriot Kristian Georgiev.

Saturday's parallel slalom (PSL) event saw Aurelie Moisan (CAN) doubling her success by adding a PSL gold to her PGS victory. She edged out Adela Keclikova (CZE) in the big final, while Marie Gams (AUT) secured bronze after defeating Salome Jansing (GER) in the small final.

In the men's PSL, Kristian Georgiev (BUL) elevated his performance from the previous day's fourth place to win the gold medal, besting his teammate Tervel Zamfirov (BUL) in the big final, who concluded the weekend with two silver medals. Petar Gergyovski (BUL) added a second bronze to his weekend haul.

The championships concluded on Sunday with the parallel slalom mixed team event. The German duo of Benedikt Riel and Salome Jansing took home the gold, while the American team of Walker Overstake and Grace Domina secured the silver. The bronze was claimed by Italy's Mike Santuari and Fabiana Fachin.
