France dominates with Gold and Silver in Mixed Team SBX event at Gangwon 2024 YOG
Jan 22, 2024·Snowboard CrossFrance showcased their prowess in snowboard cross by securing the top two spots in the mixed team event on Sunday at the Welli Hilli Ski Park Resort. Jonas Chollet (FRA), fresh from his victory in the men's event day earlier, teamed up with Lea Casta (FRA) to win gold, while their compatriots Benjamin Niel (FRA) and Maja-Li Iafrate Danielsson (FRA) secured silver medal. The Australian duo - Team AUS 2 of William Martin and Abbey Wilson rounded off the podium with a bronze finish.
A day after her third-place finish in the women's event, Casta's spirits soared with her gold medal win.
For Australia's Wilson, her pre-race rituals paid off, leading to a joyful celebration with teammate Martin at the finish line. Their teamwork and determination were evident as they embraced the moment, with Wilson saying: “To come across the finish line and to be able to ride straight up to (Martin) and give him a massive hug, both knowing how much we really wanted it and we were really working for it, to see a smile and the team, we were absolutely over the moon.”
