Philippe Lau (FRA) and Johanna Holzmann (GER) claimed gold medals in the parallel sprint competition held on the final day of the FIS Telemark World Championships in Rjukan (NOR).

Holzmann battled her way through the qualifying round, 1/8 final and 1/4 final to face off against Swiss Telemark legend Amelie Wenger-Reymond. In the end, it was Holzmann, who was able to take home the gold medal, while Wenger-Reymond had to settle for silver, despite showing the fastest qualifying time of 40.85. In the small final, Argeline Tan Bouquet (FRA) beat out local hero Guro Helde Kjølseth for the bronze medal.

On the men’s side, the Holzmann family was less successful with Johanna’s brother Benedikt being beaten to the bronze medal by Noe Claye (FRA).  Philippe Lau emerged the winner of the men’s competition as he saw off Switzerland’s Bastien Dayer to claim the third world title of his career.
