Finding the white gold under the feet again
Jul 19, 2023·Alpine SkiingWhile the summer temperatures are well established and give us the desire to cool down in the water, the majority of skiers are already back on their skis.
It's back on the mountain and on the glacier, where the various nations have put their skis back on and are doing a variety of turns, educational exercises and many runs in order to be the best this winter.
So after a well deserved break from the slopes after the season, let's see who is getting back on skis.
The German women were back on snow on the Hintertuxer glacier in Austria as well as the Czech Martina Dubovska, accompanied by Livio Magoni, who, after leaving the Austrian team last season, will be her coach for upcoming one.
Before the German girls, their male colleagues spent several days in Norway on the famous FONNA glacier.
Philip Zubcic and the Croatian team travelled to Zermatt in Switzerland to take advantage of the calm before the majority of the teams headed up there to ski.
Like her teammates, Leona Popovic also travelled to Zermatt for training.
Although skiing is generally practised outdoors, we sometimes forget that we can ski indoors. In his usual way, Dave Ryding went indoors to get through an impressive number of turns in a short space of time.
While the majority of athletes have put their skis down in the cellar for just a few months, there are those who have had to put them down for many months after a serious injury. This was the case for Katharina Gallhuber (AUT), who had a knee operation before the 22/23 season and was finally able to celebrate her return to the snow a few days ago.
Andrea Slokar, too, has finally put on her skis and is starting to take down the first slalom gates with a view to starting again next season with the first races.
