Freestyle Canada announces its Moguls & Aerials teams for 2024/25 Season

Following a successful 2023/24 World Cup campaign, Freestyle Canada is eager to build on its achievements with the announcement of its moguls and aerials teams for the upcoming 2024/25 season. Known for fostering exceptional talent, the Freestyle Canada squad is always one to watch, featuring champions like Mikael Kingsbury in moguls and Marion Thénault in aerials, who continue to elevate the standards of their respective disciplines.

Aerials

Head Coach, Jeff Bean, expressed his excitement about the burgeoning talent in Canada. "The RBC Training Ground has helped us find some outstanding athletes, and we feel so fortunate to have Genevieve Tougas coaching them through their transition from acrobats to aerialists," he noted. The program in Quebec, including the Le Relais club and the Quebec Team, has thrived under the guidance of retired Olympian Naomi Boudreau-Guertin and Alain Morin, ensuring a steady influx of quality skiers to the NextGen program.

After a successful year, Pierre-Olivier Cote has graduated from the NextGen program to the World Cup team. Filling the gap he left, Freestyle Canada added three new athletes to the NextGen roster:

- Alexandra Montminy

- Gabriel Dion

- Elliot Beauregard

Looking ahead to the 2025 World Championships in St. Moritz, the team is optimistic about its depth and medal prospects.

World Cup team:

- Men: Pierre-Olivier Cote, Alexandre Duchaine, Miha Fontaine, Lewis Irving, Émile Nadeau, Victor Primeau

- Women: Marion Thénault

NextGen team:

- Men: Elliot Beauregard, Gabriel Dion, Alec Haineault, Anthony Noel

- Women: Charlie Fontaine, Rosalie Gagnon, Alexandra Montminy

Moguls

Freestyle Canada is thrilled to welcome three new skiers to the Canadian Mogul team, selected based on their impressive performances on provincial teams during the 2023/24 season:

- Cole Carey

- Sina Clegg

- Florence Laroche

In addition, Berkley Brown has been promoted from the NextGen team to the World Cup team. Jim Schiman, the mogul program lead, commented on the team's outlook: "We are excited to continue building on last season’s improvements with our returning veterans by adding some new depth and talent to the mix. The provincial teams have done an excellent job developing these athletes, and we thank them for their hard work and dedication."

As the team gears up for the 2024/25 season, the primary objectives are clear: competing at the World Championships in February in Engadin, and starting the qualification process for the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Livigno. These events represent the pinnacle of competition and are the main focus for Freestyle Canada in the coming months.
