Successful conclusion to the 2025 FIS Freestyle Junior World Championships in Almaty
Jan 11, 2025·FreestyleThe 2025 FIS Freestyle Junior World Championships wrapped up this week in Almaty, Kazakhstan, after five thrilling days of competition that showcased the future of freestyle skiing. Held from January 7–11 at the world-class Shymbulak Ski Resort, the event brought together top junior athletes from around the globe to compete in moguls, dual moguls, dual moguls mixed team, aerials, and aerials mixed team events.
Shymbulak once again proved why it’s considered one of the premier venues in freestyle skiing. The “Yuka G” moguls course, with its starting gate at 2,750 meters above sea level, offered a true test of skill and endurance. Meanwhile, the aerials venue, situated at the middle station of the resort, provided a stunning backdrop for breathtaking jumps, with athletes delivering spectacular performances against the majestic Tien Shan mountains.
Team China delivered a dominant performance, securing seven of the nine possible medals in the aerials events, including a podium sweep in the women’s individual aerials competition and a gold medal in the aerials mixed team event. Other nations also shone brightly: Japan excelled in moguls, with multiple medals, including two golds. France, the United States, and the host nation Kazakhstan all achieved strong results, rounding out the list of top-performing countries.
