Austrian ski cross racer Andrea Limbacher has to deal with a tough setback on her road to comeback.

The 27-year-old athlete from St. Wolfgang tore her left ACL in a giant slalom training accident at Goetschen (GER) beginning of this week and already underwent surgery in the Sanatorium Hochrum.

The reigning world champion had already suffered a similar injury at her right knee last March and had been working hard to being able to defend her title at the 2017 world champs in Sierra Nevada (ESP) this coming March.

But due to the setback, Limbacher will be sidelined from action again for the next couple of months.

“The surgery went well. It's hard for Andrea who was in the final phase of her knee rehab. On behalf of the whole team I wish her all the best and hope for a fast healing process,” said OESV ski cross team captain Sabine Wittner.
