Cross workshops held for upcoming Chinese World Cup events
Sep 11, 2019·Ski CrossOn September 6-7 Snowboard Cross Race Director Uwe Beier and Ski & Snowboard Cross Race Director JP Baralo took part in a National Technical Official training workshop in Beijing.
With over 120 participants, the purpose of the workshop was to train the local NTOs and explain how the respective disciplines work and to generate an overall knowledge about the freestyle ski and snowboard disciplines. The local staff participated actively and there were several Q&A sessions.
The FIS representatives held a detailed presentation, which was followed by a quiz to evaluate the training. The growth and the future of winter sports in China were also discussed, especially in regards to the 2022 Olympic Winter Games. The outcome of the workshop was very positive.
“It was fantastic to see and meet all these people from all over China, and realize that they had studied carefully the documents translated in Chinese”, said Uwe Beier, Snowboard Cross Race Director.
“We are here to help China develop a general Cross program and this training seminar was really important before the first ever cross World Cups to be held in February and March 2020. We are thrilled to be part of this growth of our sport and the FIS respective World Cups will become, we hope, a milestone in both snowboard cross and ski cross calendars.”, JP Baralo added.
The first ever snowboard cross & ski cross World Cup events in China will take place in Secret Garden on February 28 - March 1, 2020.
