Last week, FIS Cross race directors Klaus Waldner (ski cross) and Uwe Beier (snowboard cross) made a stop during their summer site visit tour at one of the newest resorts on the FIS Cross World Cup calendars, the Cross Park in Reiteralm, Austria.

After a very good premiere edition of the first-ever Audi FIS Ski Cross and FIS Snowboard World Cups at Reiteralm earlier this year, representatives of the Austrian Ski Federation (ÖSV), the OC of Reiteralm and representatives of the FIS came together to review the very first World Cup races on the exceptional track.

Exceptional, because the Cross Park Reiteralm in its natural build is already shaped into a Cross course. A lot of ground work has been done until today, to have a natural course line, which does not demand the same amount of snow, as a course that is built from snow only.

The outcome of the review was very satisfying and the organizing committee is working hard to adapt some changes to improve the course line even more. Some slight adaptations are being planned to improve the course, but also to follow a sustainable and efficient course build. A lot of snow can be saved by a good design and course management, which were the main topics of the site visit. It is the OC’s goal to remain a regular World Cup tour stop in the following years and therefore those adaptations are going to be made in the following months.

The Crosspark Reiteralm has become a very good training facility for Ski and Snowboard Cross athletes over the past years and therefore the addition of this resort into the World Cup calendars is for sure a huge benefit.

We cannot wait to see Cross action as a double-pack with ski and snowboard cross come back to the Austrian alps at Reiteralm in March 2022!
