The first weekend in July was dedicated to another FIS Grass Skiing World Cup series, this time in the Czech ski resort Klinek in Predklasteri where the world’s best skiers competed in three disciplines: Sprint Super-G, Slalom, and Giant slalom.

A challenging Saturday with two races was on the menu, with a slalom in the morning and a sprint super-G in the afternoon. It was a successful day for the Italian team when the experienced Edoardo Frau (ITA) won the sprint super-G. Frau was followed by the overall leader of the Grasski World Cup Hannes Angerer (AUT) and Martin Bartak (CZE) in third.

A similar scenario of Italian winning streak happened in the women’s sprint super-G when Margherita Mazzoncini (ITA) won, just ahead of Kristin Posch (AUT) and Nikola Fricova (SVK) in third. The Italians also dominated in slalom when Fillipo Zamboni came second and Edoardo Frau third. However, the Austrian Hannes Angerer showed his fantastic form when he secured another win. Nikola Fricova (SVK) took over the leading in the overall slalom ranking, while she reached another victory being followed by the two domestic athletes, Alena Vesela (CZE) and Ambra Gasperi (ITA) on the podium.

The second racing day was the time to shine for the Czech National Team when Martin Bartak won the giant slalom. Hannes Angerer (AUT) came second and his teammate Roland Schloegl took third. Among the women, the current giant slalom leader Kristin Posch (AUT) did not disappoint and secured another win. Nikola Fricova (SVK) was second, followed by domestic Sarka Abrahamova (CZE).

The World Cup continues at the end of July and beginning of August in Cortina (ITA) where skiers will be competing in giant slalom and super-G.

The results from Preklasteri can be found here.
